Hello lovelies! And welcome to part two of Color Confessions! If you missed last month’s installment, you can find it here. This month’s color is one of my all-time favorites: bright pink, and Justine, blogger behind Short Is The New Black, is in the hot seat. It was an absolute no-brainer when it came to asking who to chat about pink for this lipstick series. I used to think I wore pink lips enough to call it my signature color — then I met Justine, and I was quickly dethroned. I’ve only known her for seven months, but I quickly learned that Justine and pink lips go hand in hand. Let’s hear her thoughts, shall we?
What draws you to bright pink? | What draws me to pink the most is how fun the color is and how many different shades there are for you to play around with.
What is it about bright pink that makes it “you”? | It’s fun, happy, and fabulous (wink wink). I think back to the first time I wore a bright pink lip – I was working for Bobbi Brown, and before then I would’ve never thought about putting anything more than a natural lip color on. Now, every time I wear a bright pink color I feel happy and confident. I’m at the point where I actually feel weird if I’m not wearing a bright color. #obsessed
Just a few of Justine’s favorites. I say ‘a few’ loosely.
What are your favorite shades of this color? | I have a favorite pink matte lipstick (Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Pink Lily), favorite gloss-like lipstick (Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing Lip Color in Ambition), and a favorite moisturizing lipstick (MAC Lipstick in Lustering). [See photo below.]
Which color of bright pink do you reach for the most? | I find myself reaching for my Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Pink Lily because it’s not only creamy and moisturizing, but it seriously lasts ALL day long and doesn’t dry out your lips like most matte formulas. When you’re wearing a bright color like pink, you also want to make sure after an hour or so that it’s not all over your teeth and face.
Three things Justine can’t leave the house without: phone, lipstick, and blush.
How do you transition this shade from day to night? | It depends on the day and the occasion, but there are times when I’ll wear a really bright pink color during the day and add a lipgloss to give it a little life for the nighttime. The nice thing about pink is you can wear it day and night – you just need the confidence and the right shade, and you’re all set!
What is your favorite drugstore alternative? | My favorite drugstore alternative is my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart.
Which shade of bright pink instantly makes you feel better? | Well… I’d say they all make me feel better in someway, but I do I feel especially good when I’m wearing my Morgan Marie Lipstick in Madonna. Madonna and 13 other shades were created by two amazing, powerful women who have been such great inspirations to me when it comes to following your dreams!
Thanks to Justine for spending some time over on The Naked Canvas! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out her blog! A special thanks to Siena Tavern for hosting us during our little photoshoot (and for filling our tummies with the best meatball sub and parmesan fries ever).
And if you don’t mind me, I have some lipsticks to swatch…
