Dyeing my hair is something that I’ve always been hesitant to do. Aside from the one random time my mom was doing her own at-home dye job and asked if I “wanted the leftovers,” hair color wasn’t something I was particularly interested in. Up until last summer, that is. P.S. Do NOT give your 11-year-old your leftover red hair dye AND leave it in for too long…
Last July, I took my first baby step into the hair color world and got these highlights. The idea of balayage had already been planted in my head thanks to blogger Christine of The View from 5’2″ and hair stylist Guy Tang, but I wasn’t fully prepared to take the plunge quite yet. However, as time progressed, the more I couldn’t get balayage out of my mind. Fast forward nine months, and now I was REALLY ready for balayage.
Around this time, Janice McCafferty PR reached out and informed me that George Gonzalez of George the Salon had recently styled Cindy Crawford’s hair while she was in town for Oprah’s Lifeclass. When a salon has been voted best haircut by Elle, InStyle, and Refinery29, it has to be good. Janice McCafferty PR was kind enough to extend a complimentary service to me, and now was my chance to get balayage!
My experience from start to finish was impeccable. My colorist Emily was beyond sweet and delivered everything I was asking for. After she was finished mastering the color, Dae styled my hair perfectly. I may need him on call every morning… The entire staff I came across was nothing but friendly, including George himself :) It’s no wonder this salon is so highly regarded.
Here’s a glimpse into my visit last week:
Special thanks to Dae and Emily for their hard work as well as Janice McCafferty PR for this amazing experience!
